New Ilas Conference in Zurich

Dear colleagues and friends,

We are pleased to announce that on 9 and 10 June 2022, a new ILAS meeting will take place in the beautiful city of Zürich. For this two-day conference, a full programme has been organised so that all attending members can discuss and exchange experiences and soak up the tradition, vitality and charm of the Swiss city.

The conference will start on Thursday, 9 June, with a first meeting at the offices of the conference host, Baradun AG. The meeting will be followed by dinner at Restaurant Mère Catherine, a charming place with probably one of the most beautiful courtyards in Zurich.

On Friday, 10 June, the day will begin with breakfast at the Zunfthaus zur Zimmerleuten, whose name means "the carpenters' guild" and is one of the most historically significant buildings in the city. Afterwards, Dr. Michael M. Olsansky from the Swiss Ministry of Defence and Professor of Military History at the ETH Zurich will give a presentation and answer questions on "A turning point in history? The war in Ukraine 2022". We are grateful that he has agreed to discuss such a topical subject with us given his busy schedule, a privilege we are sure to enjoy sharing.

After a light lunch at the Zimmerleuten Guild House, the traditional ILAS round trip by boat will take place, this time on Lake Zurich offering a scenic route where we will enjoy the different villages around the lake. Before dinner, we will have time to go shopping in the most exclusive shops along the Bahnhofstrasse or stroll around this multifaceted city. Finally, the place chosen for the closing dinner was the Restaurant Fischerstube Zürihorn, with an unbeatable location, this restaurant has an impressive terrace by the lake. Without a doubt, the ideal place to bid farewell to a wonderful meeting before returning home.

We are very much looking forward to seeing you all in Zürich this week!

Kind Regards,

ILAS
